Some days, I read something that resonates with my understanding of the world. Today, it is a quote by Isaac Asimov.
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way down through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false sense that democracy means ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge’ ” – Isaac Asimov
Lately, this quote has popped in my mind a lot. I have always believed that respecting people and their opinions is important. Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion; however, some opinions are worth more on certain topics.
Would I trust the opinion of a medical doctor on what is wrong with my car? Probably not. They might be experts; however, their expertise is not in auto mechanics. There is a large difference.
It does not matter how many times I go to a doctor’s office. It will never make me a doctor. A doctor’s or scientist’s years of study and training are worth way more than my opinion. It does not matter how many articles I read on the internet; however, that is just my little opinion.
What do you think? Should everyone’s opinion be seen as equal?
